Apples - Part 1

We began the applesauce making this morning.

Nathaniel, Isabel, Julianne and Lucas are all helping.

One half of the apples we have:

The chaos of my kitchen during this process...

Lucas doing the important job of keeping the cut apples in the lemon water to reduce browning:

 Isabel and Julianne cutting apples:
Isabel is not smashing them with the hammer. The apple corer broke, so Nathaniel decided they could use the cutting part and hit it with the hammer to take out the core.

I think we will get a new corer.

Julianne and Lucas taking a small break to enjoy some warm, fresh applesauce:

16 quarts of apple sauce. 15 for storage, 1 for tonight's dinner:

 Beautiful color!

This is for my really cool, awesome mommy.
(We drove to her house last night, showed up with 6 children at 8:15 at night. Just to get some canning jars. I brought home a lot of jars!)

24 pints of yummy apple sauce. I will be making about 1 dozen more for her later.
 Yummy, yummy, yummy!
I am not sure if I have enough apples for what I want to have until next year.

I might have to send Frank for some more apples next week.

Maybe when he goes to get me some grapes.....

A New Start?

A test of sorts.....  I think I'm going to try something old-new.  It has been too many years since my last post. The world's differ...
