Lancaster County

Before we headed north to Massachusetts, we headed out to visit Amish country in Lancaster County, PA. We ended up in the tourist location of Amish Village - pretty neat!

All in all, we had a great mini-vacation in Pennsylvania.

I got to visit with my brother and sister-in-law. The kids got to play with their cousins. We all survived the many hours and miles (approximately 1,050 total in 4 days) in the car.

I think we might have to do it again, soon.

Hershey

On Sunday, after Mass, we decided to take a small trip west of my brother's house.

To Hershey.

Cuz really, if you are close, you gotta get to Chocolate World, right?

We did the free tour which drops you off at the store, of course....

Had to get a picture of the race car
after the 3-D show!

Valley Forge

While deciding what to do during our vacation, my sister-in-law mentioned she had read that there was a re-enactment at Valley Forge on Saturday. As we studied the Revolutionary War about a year and a half ago, we decided it would be fun to walk in the same place as George Washington and his troops.

It was a great day; a little on the warm side, about 90; but there was a nice breeze and lots to learn.

And off we went....

Nathaniel and Elliott being goofy

Before we left, we found out the re-enactors are only at Valley Forge one day a month. How cool that we were able to be there the one day in August they were there!

requirements to being able to be a foot soldier

Pretty, now
We packed a lunch and enjoyed the shade and the views

We also visited the house George and Martha Washington stayed at as well. The house is about 75% the same as when they lived there. The furnishings are replicas.

I think everyone had fun!

Cousins

We went to Pennsylvania this weekend to visit with my brother and his family. We arrived late Friday afternoon.

Our evening consisted of catching up and dressing up:

Lucas as Darth Vadar

Nathaniel as Captain America

Isabel as .... I have no clue!

Uncle Paul helping Lucas become Spiderman

Julianne as a Ninja Warrior

Elliott wondering who let these crazy Massachusetts
cousins into his house!
The kids had a great time jumping in the pool and getting reaquainted (and I am sure the pool shots are somewhere on my daughter's or brother's camera!)

A New Start?

A test of sorts.....  I think I'm going to try something old-new.  It has been too many years since my last post. The world's differ...
