From Ginny
~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?
Been a few weeks since I got one of these posts done.
Unfortunately, my back has been bothering me and when that happens, I can't crochet for the hours I had been.
The results of the past few weeks...
I made this baby blanket the weekend we were at the 4-H State Competition. Love the fact that it is done in squares to sew together. OK, I love the portability of the squares, the sewing: not as much. Not sure what I am going to do with this. I have been toying with opening an online shop to try to help with the finances... still praying about that idea. (Would you say a quick prayer for discernment for me as well? Thank you!)
I decided I wanted to try something different. I liked doing the 'fall blanket' motifs (finished pictures here). I pulled out my old quilting books to get some ideas. I decided to try some baby colors with a pinwheel motif. I came up with this carriage blanket. It is only about 2 ft sq - a great size for a carriage: no falling into the wheels when going somewhere. I think it needs another round of border with color.. the yellow? The green? Suggestions?
On the way to making the above blanket, I had tried the following square. It was missing something (the middle pink square). When Frank was camping with the scouts, I was up all night watching TV - because I really have a hard time sleeping when he is not home - and decided to try to make a matching baby hat. The hat came out cute, just too.... not soft enough for a baby. But! perfect for Julia (Julianne's American Girl doll she got for Christmas). So if Julia gets a hat, she should have a blanket as well. I added a pink ruffle to the my trial square and done (at 4 in the morning!)
I am making a rosary pouch for Julianne's First Communion this weekend. It is tough going as I have to stop every 10 minutes or so to stretch the back and arm.... but, almost done. Just two more rows on the ruffle on top and the drawstring, as well as the crocheted rose decoration to go.
Not a ton of reading; mostly trying to organize and plan around my upcoming very busy need-to-be-scheduled summer.... same as always with Mr Popper's Penguins added in for a read-aloud with the littles.
Head on over to Ginny's to see what others are doing! I will be running around like a nut today with Orthodontist appointments, haircuts, pictures and a First Holy Communion practice later tonight! (I am hoping to get some pictures of my typically hectic day and will try to post them later tonight)
Have a great day!

The little blanket is perfect. It would be nice with a pink or blue border.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the hook.
You have been busy! A soft yellow border around the white blanket would be nice, looking forward to seeing what you decide. Said a prayer for you about the shop idea... Blessings to your girl this weekend; hope you share a photo of the rosary pouch when it's finished. :)
