Pre-school math

Lucas so wants to be doing what everyone else is doing - including school.

A while ago, I swiped an idea from Tracy using Uno cards, a muffin tray and teddy bear counters. And Lucas loved doing 'math'.

He decided he is a little bit old for that teddy bear counting.

Lately, we have been working on forming numbers. And he needs practice - those 2's and 5's are a killer.

Yesterday, I decided to re-vamp Lucas' math fun a bit. We pulled out the muffin tray. I labeled the spots with stickers 1 to 12. He wanted to use the counting squares. I made a 'worksheet' for him to fill in.

I put the counting squares in the tray and he had to count how many were in each spot

After the first 'worksheet' was filled in, he decided to try it again with teddy bear counters. (so much for being to big for teddy bears!)

This morning the littles were playing with the dominoes. I decided that dominoes would be great for math. I made another 'worksheet' for Lucas. I made spaces for dominoes. Lucas is to copy the domino dot pattern on the top domino space and then write the numbers on the bottom domino space.

He seems to think math is fun - he is right, of course; but then, my children will tell you I'm a nerd so what I think about math doesn't count! (pun intended)

A New Start?

A test of sorts.....  I think I'm going to try something old-new.  It has been too many years since my last post. The world's differ...
