So I am really trying to get back into the other stuff of education beyond English and Math. Science has sort of taken a back seat in the formal school train.
This past week I was back on the science kick.
I have decided to go back to using "Temple of the Holy Spirit" by CHC for our science jump-off point. I purchased this a very long time ago and have decided to recycle it here.
We are starting with the nervous system.
Trying to explain a neuron was tough.
Out came the craft supplies:
I had the littles try to create a neuron based on some pictures we had....
| starting the creative process |
| Lucas "you can never have too much glue!" |
| Isabel getting the axon just right |
| Nathaniel's finished neuron |
| Up close! |
| Isabel's neuron |
| Julianne's neuron |
| Nathaniel labeling the neuron's parts |
| Isabel labeling her neuron's parts |
Julianne's very creative neuron - good thing she
is only in the second grade! |
Not bad! And now they actually get the different parts of a neuron and how they are put together.
Sometimes spur of the moment ideas work out really well!
