Science - A Neuron

So I am really trying to get back into the other stuff of education beyond English and Math. Science has sort of taken a back seat in the formal school train.

This past week I was back on the science kick.

I have decided to go back to using "Temple of the Holy Spirit" by CHC for our science jump-off point. I purchased this a very long time ago and have decided to recycle it here.

We are starting with the nervous system.

Trying to explain a neuron was tough.

Out came the craft supplies:

I had the littles try to create a neuron based on some pictures we had....

starting the creative process

Lucas "you can never have too much glue!"

Isabel getting the axon just right

Nathaniel's finished neuron

Up close!

Isabel's neuron

Julianne's neuron

Nathaniel labeling the neuron's parts

Isabel labeling her neuron's parts

Julianne's very creative neuron - good thing she
is only in the second grade!

Not bad! And now they actually get the different parts of a neuron and how they are put together.

Sometimes spur of the moment ideas work out really well!

A New Start?

A test of sorts.....  I think I'm going to try something old-new.  It has been too many years since my last post. The world's differ...
