February at the Zoo

Because we have an annual pass to the zoo, I try to get the kiddos there at least once a month during the school year - often we just go to see one section or even one animal. A 45 minute ride gives us at least 90 minutes of education video or book on tape (depending on which vehicle we take) and then at least 1 hour of walking around, sometimes more.

Yesterday, being above-freezing temperatures, I decided to scoot down in the afternoon to find 'F' and 'G' animals. Unfortunately, a lot of animals are away for the winter, but it was still quite nice to get out for a while. And, as we had Dad's vehicle, the kiddos got to watch a movie. I had ordered 'Caddie Woodlawn' from the library. It is listed as a read-aloud for Sonlight and I was looking for it on tape and found the movie. Nathaniel thinks it's great to watch a movie instead of listen to a book, Isabel is looking for the book to read now, so she can compare the differences! The kiddos actually really liked the movie and were quite anxious to get in the house to finish it when we got home!

Here are some of the animals we found yesterday!

A New Start?

A test of sorts.....  I think I'm going to try something old-new.  It has been too many years since my last post. The world's differ...
