Adding Art

I have been trying to add Art to the stuff we do for school. Mostly because it is fun for the littles. However, it is something that is pushed to the end and we usually don't get to it. It has taken us over 1 year to get through 12 letters using the M is for Masterpiece book. (I do have plans to complete this; really I do!)

This year in addition to trying to finish the Masterpiece book, I enlisted the aid of a friend of mine. Miss Beth is a very talented artist. She often offers a cool art class at our homeschool group's Co-Op. My children love her. I love her. She agreed to host an art class for my crew this year.

Our first class she decided to teach us about writing icons. Oh, so cool!

Here are some pictures from our first class. I have since forgotten to bring the camera to the last 2 classes.

SANDING THE BOARDS

LISTENING TO THE HISTORY OF ICON-WRITING

Yes - Maria joined us for the class!
We have picked our saints (Nathaniel: St Bartholomew; Isabel: St Francis of Assisi; Julianne: St Elisabeth of Portugal; and Lucas: St Luke). We have copied our icons and transferred the images on to the boards. Our last class we got the gold leaf on for the halos.

I promise to bring my camera to the next class - this is too cool to not record!

A New Start?

A test of sorts.....  I think I'm going to try something old-new.  It has been too many years since my last post. The world's differ...
