Garden Journal #6

This is the first post in 6 weeks about the garden. Mostly because after I lost all my seedlings, I just couldn't do it. My enthusiasm for the garden just pfttt: left!

But, my husband and son were so helpful in getting the chicken poo and peat moss in the beds, that I couldn't continue to let them languish. Although: I did have a wonderful crop of weeds:

 The Back Weed Garden

I did manage to get some pictures of things I actually WANT to have growing in the garden spaces:

The Rhubarb from my Mom's Garden

Iris' (?) Who knew I had these in my front bulb garden? I didn't!

Strawberry flowers. This picture was take about a month ago.

we now have this:

Last weekend I was sent out, by Frank, on a mission to get plants for the garden.
I think I have my enthusiasm back! Thanks, honey.

The newly weeded and planted side gardens:
tomatoes
green peppers
banana peppers
cherry tomatoes
zucchini
yellow squash
butternut squash
acorn squash (new this year)
spaghetti squash
cucumbers
cantaloupe

The newly weeded and planted back gardens:

(right to left in above picture:)
more cherry tomatoes
broccoli
cauliflower (new this year)
carrots

different lettuces
romaine lettuce
basil
beets
couves (Portuguese kale - my Mother-in-law's favorite)

thyme
rosemary
sage
oregano
mint
chocolate mint
spearmint

the empty box in front is supposed to be for flowers for the littles; we have to get something for them!

garlic
brussel sprouts (new this year)

And now the waiting begins!

I am linking up with Ginny's Garden Journal this week! Off to see what others have got going in their spaces....

  1. Wow - your beds look enviable to me, seedling loss or not it's going great now! Especially the brussels sprouts - none of mine came up :-(

  2. Looking good, Karen! So sorry to hear about your seedlings. :( We lost our cukes and had to replant them, but everything else is doing well -- so far. It's been rainy and cool here, so our garden is s-l-o-w growing. The weed battle goes on!

    Blessings, ~Lisa
