The girls had their county competition in Horse Bowl and Hippology this weekend. These are both competitions in horse knowledge. Of course, I forgot my camera - sorry!
Horse Bowl tests the competitors knowledge in general horse knowledge as well as tack and gear. Stuff (am I a horse person or what? NOT!) is placed around the room with 3 multiple choice answers for each item or picture.
Cloverbuds (under 7 - Julianne) have 10 visual questions; Juniors (7 - 13 - Isabel) 50 visual questions; and Seniors (over 14 - Catherine) have 75 visual questions. The Seniors then have another section which makes me think of a game show. The person in charge asks a question about horses and the competitors have to buzz in to answer. You get 1 point for a correct answer and loose 1 point if you answer incorrectly.
Hippology is a written test which tests knowledge about biology of the horse, history of the horse, types of horses, diseases, feed, care, etc. I am amazed at what my daughters know about horses!
Julianne got a participation ribbon. Cloverbuds are not placed in competitions. They are really for practice to get them used to competitions as juniors. This is her last year as a Cloverbud - she is looking forward to next year as a junior.
Isabel placed 8th in Horse Bowl and 9th in Hippology this year.
Not bad for her first year as a junior! She has the possibility of being on the MA State teams if some of the juniors who placed higher decide not to compete at States. We will not know for while yet.
Catherine placed 1st in Horse Bowl and 2nd in Hippology.
She will now have practices, probably weekly, to get ready for the MA state competition later this spring. She also placed 1st in horse judging earlier this month, so she will be at States for 3 events this year. WooHoo!
We are very proud of all the girls and how well they did as well as how well they supported their team-mates at the compeitition.
This is someplace for me to keep track of the memories that I seem to forget in the everyday routines of being a servant: of God, my husband and my children.
