background: Nathaniel and Isabel are taking a class outside the house with a 'local' homeschool tutorial group. ('local' is in quotes as it usually takes us about 35 minutes - with no traffic - to get to the location: totally worth it!)
Nathaniel is taking Biology (great to get the lab in) and Isabel is taking English A: Middle School Literature and Grammar. While they are taking these classes, Julianne and Lucas are studying Science with me. We are guaranteed a set 1.5 hours each week to read the book and talk about science. We are using the Apologia Swimming Creatures.
Chapter 2 in the science book is about whales. Well, we just happen to live about 20 minutes away from a great
whaling museum. Frank was home last Friday morning before he had to go to a job, and so off in the car we went with our library passes (love those library museum passes!) to the
New Bedford Whaling Museum.
We had a wonderful time and EVERYONE learned quite a bit!

A fantastic way to bring the chapter to life! I am thinking living close to the ocean will be a great addition to this year's science for Julianne and Lucas.
